So long, and join me at!

Screen Shot 2019-04-30 at 10.15.01 PMThe three months of What’s Up Archaeology are over tonight, so this is my last post here. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it! It’s great to have a place to explain how I thought of things and why I’m looking into things in a less formal way.

I’ve enjoyed it so much that I will be continuing the blog on the same twice-a-week schedule over on my own website, Study Guides, at In the next six weeks I’ll be finishing the third book in the series, so I’ll be blogging about that; after that, I hope to get back to work revising my book on the history of swimming. I’d also like to do more posts around holidays, political events, and the continuing saga of Notre Dame…

If any of you What’s Up Archaeology bloggers would like to do guest blogging over at – or if anybody else would – I’m always open to proposals. Your posts have been super interesting to me, and I’m sure my visitors would be interested in them too! I’d like to especially thank the organizers (@ArchyFantasies I believe) who put this all together for us and let me get some low-stakes blogging practice in before trying it out on my own site!

And if any of you have been moved by this blog to want to support my website and my projects, please chip in to my Patreon  – $5 a month – one coffee! – would totally make my day. I’m trying to shift Study Guides from being ad-supported to being community-supported. I’d be 1) less capitalist and about selling things 2) more encouraged/supported by the knowledge that you all stood behind me and 3) way better for students to use, especially the growing number of young visitors from India and Africa who pay for their data and can’t afford to use so much of it downloading ads. For each sponsored dollar, I take the ads off one article. And If we reach $1000 a month in sponsors, I’ll remove ads from the whole site – all 2500 articles! Can you help us get there?
